NeighborImpact’s Housing Center offers foreclosure prevention workshops every other Monday evening. These workshops are targeted at people who anticipate having trouble making their mortgage payments and those who already are in default. The workshop covers all the options that are available to households facing foreclosure. The workshop also reviews how individuals can work with their loan servicer, the basics of loan refinancing and loan modifications, the ins and outs of the federal “Making Home Affordable” plan, and how to avoid foreclosure rescue scams. After attending the workshop, individuals can make an appointment to meet with a housing counselor for one-on-one counseling. Both the workshop and counseling are free and open to the public, however NeighborImpact only can provide counseling to people who are at risk of losing their primary residence.
