At Big Belly Burgers in Sunriver, Donations are Off the Wall
12/7/2016 1:40 PMBig Belly Burgers & Brew of Sunriver recently presented NeighborImpact with funds from patrons participating in a pop-up fundraiser. A patron started the event off by donating matching funds in the amount of $100 almost a year ago. The $100 was pinned to the wall and subsequent cash gifts in the amount of $1, $5, $10 and $20 were added to the challenge until the wall was covered in cash.
“I walked into Big Belly Burgers & Brew for lunch about a month ago and noticed the wall covered with cash,” said NeighborImpact Board member, Tony DeBone. “Then I saw the sign listing NeighborImpact as the funds recipient and I knew I needed to thank Penny in person!”
Penny, owner of Big Belly Burgers & Brew, knows about NeighborImpact because several of her friends have received energy assistance. “NeighborImpact is a great community asset, I was happy to help show support for the organization,” said Penny.
When the wall was completely covered, Penny called Tony and, with the help of fellow NeighborImpact Board Member Laura Beebe, they spent about 30 minutes removing the cash and bundling it up to deliver to NeighborImpact. In total, $482 was raised and the funds will go to support NeighborImpact Energy Assistance program.
“We sure appreciate the support from community members and business owners like Penny. I know that NeighborImpact provides necessary services to families in Central Oregon, but we couldn’t do all we do without people like Penny, her staff, and customers,” said DeBone.
