Increased insulation and lower air infiltration rates can reduce heating bills for participants in the weatherization program. In addition, weatherization measures can improve the livability and extend the life of a home. The weatherization program typically serves 9-12 low-income households per month and has provided weatherization assistance to over 1,000 households to date. The weatherization program partners with the Housing Rehabilitation program on many of its projects.
During the initial contact with clients, information is gathered and scored according to program guidelines. An energy conservation course has been developed so that applicants may receive hands-on instruction in basic weatherization and energy saving practices for their homes. NeighborImpact provides information and east-to-install materials and tools for those that attend the class.
