Opportunity B: For Providers Who Are, Or Will Become, Child Care Centers  

This educational and financial opportunity is open to persons who are expanding their child care center, or who want to open a child care center and who have experience in early childhood education. This opportunity includes participation in an educational program as a requirement to be eligible to apply for grant funding.

Program

The intent of this opportunity is to support start-up and existing child care providers who are seeking educational and financial support to get a child care center business started and sustainable.

The fall program starts in September 2023. Requests for Interests will start being reviewed on July 10th, 2023, however, persons may submit a Request for Interest before that, and up until August 25, 2023. Acceptance into the program is not guaranteed; persons must submit interest and go through an application process.

The program includes a 12-series, 36-hour business education course and 8 direct business advising sessions through Central Oregon Community College (COCC) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and NeighborImpact. Curriculum focuses on developing best business practices and incorporating continuous quality improvement in programming. Classroom sessions are in-person and bi-weekly between 6 and 9pm for 6 months. In addition to classroom time, participants should expect to spend 30-40 hours outside the classroom (4-6 hours per week). Students are expected to attend all classes, advising sessions, and meet program requirements to be eligible for grant funding.

Award Amounts

Upon meeting deliverables, providers may seek funding amounts based upon the maximum allowable amount per child and per grant.

  • Maximum award per child: $6,000
  • Maximum award per grant: $300,000
