Simply leave a donation of non-perishable goods in a sturdy bag next to your mailbox before the delivery of the mail on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers in the Bend and Redmond area will collect these food donations and deliver them to NeighborImpact’s Food Bank, where they’ll be redistributed to local families and individuals in need through partner food pantries.
Most desired donation items include:
- Peanut butter
- Canned tuna
- Cereal
- Canned fruit
- Oats
- Rice
Unsure of whether your mail carrier will be participating? Keep an eye out for a postcard reminder, which will include additional information about the most-needed items to donate and alternative ways of giving.
NeighborImpact’s Food Bank collects and distributed over 4 million pounds of food to 55 local agencies in Central Oregon, feeding over 26,000 individuals every month. Our efforts divert 50 tons of healthy, edible food from landfills every month and increase the quantity, quality and nutritional value of food available.
