Connect the Dot(s)

Let us introduce you to Dorothea ‘Dot’ Thurby. Dot is a born-and-raised Warm Springs tribal member and has been working for NeighborImpact as a program liaison in Warm Springs for one year.
She links persons to our services and is a voice for the Native population, communicating real needs to us that she gleans from residents and from the Tribes’ Emergency Management department.
Since her hiring, Dot has helped 671 residents secure services through our utility assistance, home weatherization, rental assistance and financial education programs. She has supported residents with water, with reducing COVID-19 exposure and with wildfire response. She also proves helpful disseminating information, connecting to the Tribes’ media and giving interviews.
Together with Oregon Food Bank, NeighborImpact donated more than 2,300 gallons of bottled water which Dot distributed to the community after an electrical fire damaged a pump at the Tribes’ water treatment facility. At Dot’s request, NeighborImpact hosted a pop-up mobile food pantry distribution which provided 110 families with nonperishable food and fresh produce including apples, lettuce, cherries, strawberries, onions, green beans and more.
With Dot’s help, we will continue to collaborate with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs to find creative solutions and connect the dots to services for Warm Springs residents.
