First Interstate Bank’s Empty Bowls
The 23rd Annual Empty Bowls event took place on Sunday, October 27 at the Central Oregon Community College Campus Center. Attendees received a beautifully handcrafted bowl made by local potters as well as lunch consisting of soup or chili, bread, refreshments, and dessert provided and prepared by Cascade Culinary Institute culinary students. Attendees enjoyed a relaxed dining experience at the COCC Campus Center that includes music by local artists.
Empty Bowls is an internationally recognized event that raises awareness of hunger and hunger-related issues. Guests keep their handcrafted bowls as a reminder of the thousands of bowls that remain empty each day in Central Oregon and around the world. Locally, funds raised from this event support NeighborImpact and its Regional Food Assistance program. This program distributes nearly four million pounds of food throughout our region each year and, together with our 57 food partners in Central Oregon, we feed approximately 70,000 residents each month.
If you are a local artist interested in donating bowls for this event, please review our Artist Agreement.
